ICBC Operations during the pandemic

Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh!

It has been over two weeks since we resumed daily salah and Jumu’ah at our masjid.  We have had community members attend every salah, with Jumu’ah attendance at over 75 people, Alhamdu lillah!  First of all, we thank Allah SWT for blessing us with the opportunity to pray again at our masjid.  Secondly, we thank our tireless volunteers who are working constantly behind the scenes to ensure we follow the regulations and guidance provided by the CDC and the authorities.

As you aware, we have instituted a registration process for attending prayers at our masjid.  The process allows us to optimize the allocation of available space such that the 6-ft social distancing is implemented in the prayer halls; it also facilitates ‘contact tracing’, should we ever need to engage in that exercise.  To that effect, we are maintaining a database of attendees of every salah.

We continue the disinfecting service twice a month and additionally, engage in daily cleaning/sanitization.  More importantly, before each and every salah, our volunteers confirm the registration of attendees and check the body temperature to ensure no one with a temperature greater than 99.4 deg F is admitted into the prayer hallsWe require attendees to wear a face mask and bring a prayer mat but those without them are given a mask and a plastic sheet to use as prayer mat.  Hand sanitizers are provided for use.  To summarize, the following are required to attend prayers at ICBC.

  • Register online
  • Wear a mask
  • Bring a prayer mat
  • Subject oneself to a body temperature check
  • Utilize hand sanitizer before entering the masjid

If you or a member of your household is sick, please refrain from attending ICBC until you have been medically cleared.  If you have traveled to any of the quarantine zones or have potentially come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, please self-quarantine yourself for 14 days before attending services at ICBC.  We urge members to visit ICBC only during the designated prayer times.  Please review the full summary of the ICBC Masjid Re-Opening Plan & Guidelines.

We will communicate all pertinent information through the ICBC email distribution.  The links for registering for the daily salah will be emailed every Sunday at 6:00 PM for the upcoming week.  The link for registering for the Jumu’ah salah will be emailed every Wednesday at 6:00 PM.   If you are not subscribed to ICBC emails, please sign up at our Website https://icbrushycreek.org/contact/

As restrictions have started to ease, it is unfortunate that the number of COVID-19 situation has been on the rise in Texas, and here in Austin.  So, it is imperative for us to continue to be vigilant and strictly enforce our rules and guidelines.  The measures in place are mandatory and we request your patience, compliance and cooperation.  While we have put a lot of effort into ensuring the safety of our congregants, we need to maintain these efforts until the pandemic is over.  Anyone unwilling or unable to follow the guidelines will be asked to leave the premises.  This is in the interest of the health and safety of our community members and our volunteers who have committed their precious times to assist us.  Except a few cases, our members have complied with the rules and guidelines.  Our volunteers are simply implementing the process put in place, so please extend your cooperation and appreciate their efforts.

We continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation in Greater Austin and will make any necessary changes as and when necessary.  We pray that Allah SWT keeps all of us safe and healthy during this pandemic, and thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding during these difficult and challenging times.  Should you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please email us at info@icbrushycreek.org

Jazakum Allahu Khairan
