- With some community members riding their bicycles to the masjid, we have installed a Bike Rack as part of this initiative.
- We promote the use of environmentally friendly products by avoiding Styrofoam and Plastics during our events.
We appreciate your cooperation as we do our part to take care of our environment.
ADOPT-A-PARK Project
Adopt-a-Park is a city-run program that provides opportunities to cultivate community involvement through volunteerism! The City of Cedar Park encourages families, neighborhoods, community groups and business organizations to get involved to help our environment and preserve our parks, gardens, trails and lakes. These areas contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by residents and provide a foundation to foster ongoing economic and commercial development of the community. In partnership with GAMA (Greater Austin Muslim Association), ICBC was approved to adopt the Brushy Creek Lake Park.
As part of the adoption, we conducted cleaning at the Brushy Creek Lake Park on May 14, 2022. About 25+ community members (including 10 youth) participated in this clearing drive, which included removing weed, picking up litter, cleaning picnic tables, removing debris, sweeping the courts and pathways, reporting graffiti, reporting park hazards, etc.
Abu Darda RA reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever pulls something out of the roads of the Muslims that harms them, Allah will record a good deed for him. Whoever is given a good deed, Allah will admit him into Paradise by it.” Source: Musnad Aḥmad 26933
We’ will be doing similar projects every quarter to help the City keep our parks clean and to serve our community. To participate in this effort, please join the WhatsApp Group: https://bit.ly/icbc-adopt-a-park.
